Policy to ensure quality education soon: Khandu

BOLENG, July 27: Considering the need of revamping the education sector in the state, the state government is soon to come up with a policy to ensure quality education in the government run schools. The recruitment procedure of teachers for schools would be made stricter. This was disclosed by the Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu after inauguration of Boleng Additional Deputy Commissioner Office here this afternoon.

Boleng Administrative headquarter was recently upgraded to Independent ADC head quarter.

“The world is rapidly advancing in all sectors thereby increasing the competition in all levels. The need of the hour is to revamp our elementary education system so that our students and youths come at par with the rest of the world”, Khandu observed. A modest beginning is plan out through the recruitment procedure of teachers. While plans are on to hand over the recruitment of Junior Teachers and above to Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), the recruitment of Assistant Teachers would be carried out conducting written examinations followed by viva-voice by experts in the districts, the chief minister revealed. The demand of subject teachers pouring in from various quarters are being actively considered, Khandu informed.

Centre has positively nodded for a battalion of Arunachal Scout, Khandu revealed and further added that many youths of the state would get job.

While drawing in length on the developmental activities carried out by his government, Khandu specifically extended his gratitude to the Centre for bestowing their good faith. All schemes are being executed on war footing manner by ensuring complete transparency, he confidently said.

Reiterating his stand over creating awareness on HIV/AIDS, the chief minister stressed for discussing the topic in every public meetings or programmes. He laid emphasis on disseminating the knowledge on HIVAIDS amongst the adolescence that is most vulnerable to the dreaded disease. He also called for preserving wildlife.

Khandu further highlighted the benefits of Independent ADC head quarter and urged the mass to avail the benefit.

Responding to the public memorandum, Khandu assured to take up the matter after discussion with the local MLA.

APPSU sponsored Bandh passes off peacefully, reiterates Gamlin’s ouster

ITANAGAR, July 27: The Dawn to dusk Capital bandh call given by the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) passed off peacefully without any untoward incident. The union had called the bandh demanding resignation of Home Minister Jarbom Gamlin “for his failure in making public the report on killing of late Wangcha Rajkumar and maintaining overall law and order of the state”.

City SP Hibu Tamang said that the day passed off peacefully.

The message is loud and clear and the “People First” government should read the writing on the walls and should immediately drop the home minister. The Union said that if the government did not give into its demand, Union will continue with its democratic agitation.

Today’s bandh as well as others that are in the offing as announced by the apex students’ body for the ouster of the Minister from the state cabinet is nothing but the result of dormant sentiments of common masses and youths of the state that had been suppressed all these years with the hope that things will change for better.

In spite of so many reminders and representation from time to time by various NGOs and from AAPSU as well, no substantial progress or approach has been made to improve the law and order situation thus showing total apathy towards his constitutional obligation as home minister of the state, the union President Takam Tatung said in an emailed message.

The law and order degradation is at its zenith and this is because of the casual approach of the home minister, he added.

The Home Minister being a former president of AAPSU should never underestimate the sentiments of the students’ community and tender his resignation on moral ground paving way for new leaders who can handle the home portfolio with more sincerity, the message added.

The Union further thanked the citizens for cooperating with the Union.

PR leaders allege violations

ITANAGAR, July 27: Panchayat leaders of Dirang alleged that Election Commission of Indian Guidelines was not adhere with in the enrolment process of electorates.

ZPM of Dirang Block in West Kameng Dor Tsering alleged that guidelines as prescribed by the Election Commission of India were not taken into considerations. He said that more than 300 suspected Bangladeshis with fake permanent residential certificates were brought in Dirang which was initiated by the MLA’s camp before the enrolment process. He said that ADC Dirang did not allow representatives of political parties and others to participate in the enrolment process.

He alleged that ADC did not adhere to the guidelines and was being partial in his conduct.

The newly created Dirang Additional Deputy Commissioner’s office was ransacked on July 22 during an election hearing process by an unruly mob of almost a dozen youths who had alleged biased ness in the process.

The hearing process was conducted by the area magistrate to include fresh voters or modify the existing voter list as part of the process.

West Kameng Zilla Parishad Chairperson Phurpa Tsering expressed regret at the vandalism of ADC’s office, Dirang. He said that “though the situation prevailing at the relevant point of time made the incident inevitable but I do not justify such an act”.

While tendering unconditional apology to All Dirang Employees Welfare Association and the citizens, he however questioned the Employees Association silence over an incident involving the Junior Engineer, PWD who was allegedly beaten up.

Tsering further called for a check on enrolments of foreigner’s in the electoral roll.

Dirang ADC Nyabin Ette earlier had said that unruly mob had taken law into their hands and vandalized his office while nothing was amiss in the entire process.

Live and let live, Mra's mantra to kids

ITANAGAR, July 27: “Live and let live while also protecting wildlife” is the mantra preached by Everester Tapi Mra during his tour of five districts of the state which was held from July 13-25.

He visited 20 schools in Papum Pare District, over 10 schools in Ziro valley, 3 schools in Upper Subansiri District, one school each in Aalo and Pasighat and concluded his visit at Nari-Koyu area visiting 2 schools on July 24 last.

Mra emphasized on importance of mountaineering and tourism while explaining the rich potentially and scope of employment opportunity in this field.

While advocating on preservation of wild life, Mra also stressed the need for developing eco-tourism to keep ecological balance.

The school children were delighted of their interaction with Everester who further gave demonstration of Everest equipments. Mra was warmly accorded and presented with gifts by school authorities.

Meanwhile, the Taro Opey Foundation, Ziro thanked the concerned Deputy Commissioners and their sub-ordinate officials who have made all arrangements for the visit of Tapi Mra in their respective districts.

Mra will begin his 2nd round tour to other parts of the state sometime in November this year.

ASHA training takes off in Changlang

CHANGLANG, July 27: District Health Society, Changlang organized first phase of Modular Training of Acrediated SHA on Module-I of Changlang Block with effect from July 27 to Aug 2 at Changlang today. Total of 28 numbers of ASHA trainees were present for the training.

DRCHO Dr. P. Dutta, Changlang while welcoming all the ASHA trainees, explained about the rules and responsibilities of ASHA. They will be main linkage between the society at the village level and the health functionaries. He added that special emphasis should be given to the mother and child health and their various problems related to health.

DMO Dr. Pramathesh De, DMO Changlang briefed on the importance and benefits of the training programme and called upon all the ASHAs to cooperate during the training with sincerity. DMO stressed on the activities of Village Health and Sanitation Committee and requested them to constitute VHSC and open bank account immediately. He wish active participation of the ASHAs and requested them to clear all doubts related to their work pattern.

CCFC defeat REYBSA to finish third

ITANAGAR, Jul 27: Losing their semifinal to BTFC earlier, CCFC beat REYBSA 3-0 in the third place decider of the Tai Nikam Football Tournament played at RG Stadium, Naharlagun today.

Nyodo Tao, Toko Takar and Kipa Takum scored one each for CCFC in the second half of the match.

The final will be played between Bamang Taji Football Club and Model Village Football Club tomorrow.

Gorkha Society formed

ITANAGAR, July 27: The Gorkha Community living in the Capital Complex of Itanagar has formed Arunachal Gorkha Welfare Society (ARGOWS) in Itanagar with Milan Bohra and Krishna Lal Ghimire as its President and Secretary respectively.

General Secretary of Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangha Sukhman Moktan an umbrella organization of all the Gorkha organizations of India attended the formation. He was on a goodwill mission of spreading the nationalism spirit amongst the Gorkhas in North East Region and urged the people to emulate the principal of peaceful co-habitation and become part of development of all sections of people.

ASU urges

ITANAGAR: Apatani Students’ Union (ASU) urged the authority concerned to conduct the SSA interview in a free and fair manner. It warned that if any teachers are appointed through unfair means, the union will not tolerate the act.

The union further condemned the high absenteeism of officers in Ziro and further urged the Deputy Commissioner also to strictly check the officers.

Bengia congratulated

ITANAGAR: Nyishi Elite Society (NES) congratulated Bengia Hemanta for being nominated as member of the General Council Sangeet Natak Academy (SNA).

His nomination to the India’s National Academy for Art, Dance & Drama is a recognition accorded to him for his untiring performance in the field of music.

The society said that Art & Culture Commissioner Y D Thongchi has shown wisdom in choosing the right person for the post.

NES expressed hoped that Bengia Hemanta will accomplish his assignment in the field of art and music in the national level under the guidance of visionary figure Y D Thongchi.

Education provide the sense to the senses

Madam,

When I was at college one of my friends told us that his cousin sister was working in U.S.A as teacher & she has done PhD. When questioned teacher?He said yes a primary school teacher. One of the friend said she could have been a lecturer in India,see the descrimination. No, said my friends she is highly paid & specialization is a prerequisite. Now dealing with my own children’s education, I'm always reminded about that particular discussion.

My son who is in L.K.G would always try to write alphabet exactly the way his teacher has written in his copy. I have shown him alphabet from alphabet chart, from text book but when he write down he would always look for the writing of his teacher.

Now I understand why a teacher of primary school be a specialised & highly educated one. He/she should be able to understand the children’s psychology, he/she should know the way & method of teaching & giving education to a person who has just put his/her first step into education or for that matter the challenges of life ahead.

We may have 5 senses physically but education provide the sense to the senses. Any literate person can teach other but giving Education, can only be done by a teacher.

Madam,

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Home Minister Jarbom Gamlin for his tireless work for development of the 27 Liromoba Assembly constituency in particular and Arunachal Pradesh in general.

Some of the major achievements of Gamlin are -- black-topping from Liromoba to Tai road, up-gradation of CO post to EAC headquarters, commissioning of Ligo Micro Hydel and construction of gallery at football ground and under-construction BSNL mobile tower etc.

Gamlin’s true leadership also attracts senior leaders of the area.

I hope, the development activities of the area will gain momentum if the experienced and senior leaders work together in greater interest.
